MUCODYL

 

COMPOSITION:

AmbroxolHCl, cetirizine HCl.

 

PRESENTATION:

Tab 20 x 10’s. Syrup 60 mL.

 

DESCRIPTION:

Each tablet contains ambroxolHCl 60 mg and cetirizine HCl 5 mg.

Each 5 mL of syrup contains ambroxolHCl 30 mg and cetirizine HCl 2.5 mg.

Mucodyl possesses mucokinetic, secretolytic and antihistaminic/antiallergic properties. It promotes removal of tenacious secretions in the respiratory tract, reduces mucus stasis and also normalizes mucus secretion. Cough and sputum volumes are often reduced on treatment with Mucodyl.

 

INDICATIONS:

Acute and chronic disorders of respiratory tract associated with abnormal bronchial secretions. Productive cough and cold; allergic, chronic and asthmatic bronchitis.Allergic rhinitis or sinusitis.Bronchial asthma, along with bronchodilators; in respiratory tract infections, along with appropriate antibiotics.

 

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:

Adults:Acute Conditions: 1 tab 2-3 times daily; Chronic Conditions: 1 tab daily, preferably at bedtime. In case of renal or hepatic insufficiency, reduce the dose to ½.

 

Children ³10 years:Acute Conditions: 1 tsp (or ½ tab) twice daily; 5-10 years: ½ tsp twice daily; 2-5 years:1/3tsp thrice a day. For chronic administration, reduce the dose to½.

A graduated measuring cup is provided with each bottle.

 

OVERDOSAGE:

In case of massive overdose, gastric lavage should be initiated and symptomatic treatment given. In case of moderate overdose, discontinuance of treatment with Mucodyl will resolve the symptoms.

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

No known contraindications.

 

PRECAUTIONS:

Effects on the Ability to Drive or Operate Machinery: Patients should be advised not to drive or operate machinery when treated with Mucodyl.

 

Use in pregnancy & lactation: No adequate studies have been conducted in pregnant women, therefore, Mucodyl is not recommended during pregnancy.

Cetirizine is excreted via breast milk, use of Mucodyl should be avoided to lactating mothers or avoid breastfeeding if Mucodyltherapy is needed.

 

SIDE EFFECTS:

Occasionally Reported: Mild gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, agitation, dry mouth.

 

INTERACTIONS:

Concomitant intake of Mucodyl with alcohol or tranquilizers may increase the effects of alcohol or tranquilizers.
